Sea, I had inserted the wrong link in the Reading Journal Challenge Mr. Linky page. I have now attached the correct link. So sorry about that – hope it is possible for you to delete the wrong link.

I just signed up for the Reading Journal Challenge. Thanks to you, I bought a Moleskine Reading Journal too, and I absolutely love it!

Hi Sea,
is it relevant what languages the books are read in? (e.g. in the classics challenge)
Btw I’ll try a few of the challenges as I found myself reading too less lately. Besides I have to read a few books for uni anyway at the moment that match too.
Permalink # seabenjamin said
You may read literature in whichever language you’d like and are able. It makes no difference for the challenge. Good to have you.
Permalink # Daisy Chain said
looking forward to it! Just thinking that I don’t have a big chance to make it. but we’ll see.
Permalink # seabenjamin said
At least you will have an attempt, which is better than none.
Permalink # Nicole said
What other languages will you be reading in?
Also, I caught a glimpse at your blog, I want to start running this year as well (another personal challenge, aside from reading).

haha, don’t worry I’m a Spanish native-speaker (although we start learning English at the age of 6), but I do most of my reading in English.
Permalink # Daisy Chain said
im about to really start now.. I only read blogs and stuff so far… but i have to read two books in english for uni atm anyway (one of them is jane eyre). Im finally confident enough to try :).

Hey there in re-reading the guidelines why are we only including novels? Some of the best works are non-fiction i.e. current affairs, biographapies, etc. Merely curious.
Permalink # seabenjamin said
Jacky,
non-fiction works just as well!

Just had a question on what we include on our challenge lists. I notice some have quite a list already. When do we start counting from? March? Beginning of 2010?
Permalink # seabenjamin said
Danielle,
Technically, the challenge runs from March 2010 to February 2011.
Permalink # Nicole said
Come to think of it Sea, I think I’m going to start counting from March instead of January for your Challenge (maybe I’ll make it to 75 instead of the 50 I originally planned!).
I’ve been thinking about other possible Mini-Challenges we could throw in the mix. One that I personally would like to do is a sort of Around the World Challenge. I tend to read a lot of books by American writers, and I’ve seen this trend in my tbr list as well, so as part of my 2010 Challenge I’d like to break out of that pattern and incorporate some reading by international writers. I’m thinking something along the lines of 12 different nationalities. So far I’ve got a bunch of Americans, a Canadian, a Brit, a French and a Chilean. My tbr list includes books by Milan Kundera, Italo Calvino and Karuki Marukami, so I would be adding a Czech, an Italian and a Japanese. Is anybody interested in doing something like this?
Permalink # Danielle said
Sea, Ok thanks. I just wanted to be sure:)
Nicole- I would be interested in the mini around the world challenge. I too can get stuck reading certain authors .

Merhaba Sea,
I have just joined two of your challenges: the 50 book challenge and the heavy reading challenge. At the moment I’m reading Halide’s Gift by Frances Kazan. That’s gonna be my first book to register for the 50 book challenge then 🙂
Thanks for hosting it. I’ll add a link of your blog to mine at the weekend.

Sea – is the photo from Michaels Bookstore? or where? No carpet on floor so its not Hendersons. Its most inviting!

Jacky,
The photo featured for the 100 books challenge is The Strand in nyc. One of my favorite place to be there!

I found your blog from “Goodreads”. I was thinking about starting a reading journal and so your challenge is perfect for me. Can you add me to the “reading journal” challenge?
Permalink # seabenjamin said
Absolutely. I am delighted to add you. This is one of my favorite challenges. Just let me know your name and and I will add you right away.
Permalink # Melissa W. said
Count me in. Can I count books that were completed prior to the start date?
Permalink # seabenjamin said
Melissa,
I will leave that up to you. I suppose that depends on how serious you will want to be with the challenge. Naturally, I would think that books read within the year 2010 could count, but I will leave this decision up to you to be based on how much of a challenge you want to give yourself.
In any case, welcome. Very glad to have you here.
